Private Wheel Throwing Workshop FAQs
Does the cost of the workshop include clay, glazing and firing? A: The cost of your workshop covers your making session on the wheel and your glazing session for a fortnight later.
What can i make? A: We like to start you off creating smaller pieces for your first time on the wheel. This helps you to get a feel for wheel throwing. Returning students will gradually be guided to create bigger pieces. Additional charges may apply for larger vessels for intermediate students. Your pieces will then be fired in the kiln for their first firing (bisque firing). This makes your pieces hard like stone and allows them to be glazed. Your glazing session is automatically booked in for a fortnight after your making session. This covers glazing of two small wheel thrown pieces per person. Additional charges may apply for more pieces or larger pieces for intermediate students. Please note that if you cannot attend your designated glazing session there will be a fee of $35 per person to reschedule into a public glazing session.
Where are the workshops located? A: All of our public workshops are held on site in our Sunshine Coast pottery workshop.
Can children attend private wheel throwing bookings? A: Children 10 years and over are welcome to attend wheel throwing lessons. Please note children must be accompanied by an adult and be participating in the lesson. The cost per child is the same cost as adults students. Please note the wheel is tricky and often the children need even more attention on the wheel.
Can we take our pieces home straight away? A: In the first session you will create with the clay, the clay will then air dry for 5 - 7 days in our studio. Your pieces will then be bisque fired in the kiln, and then you will come back to glaze them in your second session a fortnight after your making session. After that, they will be fired again. You will be asked to leave your phone number and you will be texted anywhere between 2-5 weeks when your pieces are ready for collection.
Please see our collections tab for collection details.
*Please note finished works must be collected within 4 weeks after recieving a text to collect. Non-collected works are donated to charity. If you need longer to collect please notify us during your session or via email.
