Meet the Syndicate Creative Workshop Team!

Hi! my name is Bree and I’m the boss woman, and head ceramics teacher for Syndicate Creative, an independent ceramics studio which offers the most extensive range of Pottery workshops North of Brisbane.

I have been a ceramic artist for 6 years and now sell my ceramics wholesale to boutiques around Australia and via my online store under my ceramic label Muditā Ceramics.

I started Syndicate Creative shortly after I studied my undergraduate in Visual Arts. I was addicted to pottery and was creating my own works. I didn’t want to work for someone else and go back to a non-creative role so I followed my vision and it lead me here. I have now been teaching pottery for 3 years and loving every minute of it. My students bring so much joy to my life. Seeing the creations that come from every class truly puts a smile on my dial.

Our classes are intimate and kept to a size that even at full capacity I can give each participant close attention. My aim is that every student leaves with something useful that hopefully looks cute too! But it’s also about giving people the experience of working with clay. There’s really nothing quite like it.

Im told by students in every single class that they unknowingly slipped into relaxation and mindfulness while they were making. It fills my heart with joy to be able to bring a little bit of peace to people’s often busy schedules.

I get a lot of Nurses, teachers, lawyers and people from other high stress careers coming in to do private group workshops who say it’s just what they needed.

The beauty of hand building ceramics is that it gives you a chance to slow down. If you zone out too much I’ll be there to guide you through and made sure you don’t have holes in your pot… unless you’re making a planter of course!

I often fall in love with the students works, wishing they could come home with me.

I have always been inspired by one of a kind ceramic pieces. I felt there was something magical about creating something that never existed before, and that nobody else has. Each creation has its own originality. I think that's how I like to see people too.

Meet Jo!

Hi I’m Jo and I am one of the teachers here at Syndicate Creative.

You can usually find me at the beach walking my dogs, sitting down with a good book or with my hands covered in clay.

The first time I ever did pottery was when I was 19 years of age at Caulfield Institute of Technology where I majored in sculpture. I spent most of my days creating figures and head busts in clay and stone, life drawing with oil pastels and charcoal or print making.

I would stay up late into the night during my collage days, drawing and sculpting without any idea of the time, showing up to class the next day looking half alive and covered in charcoal, paint and clay. Somehow magically having enough energy to do it all again the next night.

The thing I love most about pottery is that there are so many different types of clay. It’s beautiful to experiment and mould the textural material into different shapes.

I love seeing the look on a students face when they begin to progress and start making different forms.

That is what pottery is all about for me... having fun!
